Northamptonshire Care Record Celebrates Two Years of Transforming Health and Care

Healthcare staff

The Northamptonshire Care Record (NCR) is celebrating its second anniversary this month, marking two years of improving the way health and care professionals across the county access and share vital patient information.

Since its launch in October 2023, the NCR has enabled doctors, nurses, social workers, and other frontline professionals to securely view up-to-date information about the people they care for. This joined-up approach means that wherever a patient is seen, whether in hospital, at their GP practice, in community services or in social care, professionals can see a single, consistent picture of their health and care needs.

Over the past two years, the NCR has:

  • Connected more than 10,000 health and care professionals to over 830,000 individuals across Northamptonshire
  • Helped to reduce duplication of tests and paperwork, saving valuable time
  • Supported safer, faster, and more personalised care by ensuring the right information is available at the right time
  • Included access to ReSPECT plans, ensuring professionals can see and act on a patient’s wishes and preferences for their care.

Kirstie Watson, Digital Director at Northamptonshire Integrated Care Board said:

“The Northamptonshire Care Record has become an invaluable tool for our teams. In just two years, it has transformed how we work together across the NHS and social care, helping us deliver safer, faster, and more joined-up care for local people and now regularly gets over 45,000 views per month. This is an important milestone, and we are excited to build on this progress in the years ahead.”

The NCR continues to evolve, with new features and partners being added to further strengthen integration across health and care in Northamptonshire. Looking ahead, the programme will focus on expanding access, improving user experience, and ensuring that residents have confidence in how their information is used to support their care.
